Rory McILroy overcome a six-stroke deficit and atrocious time to conflict for the title Pro-Am Pebble Beach.
McILroy made a flourishing start in his third round with four birdies on the first nine, before the gains in the 15th, 16th and 18th, the 18th left him seven for the day and -15 for the week.
Shane Lowry (-15) equaled the 65 of McILroy on Saturday, with an eagle in the second giving the tone as he rose the ranking.
“I had the impression that time had lit six for us,” said McILroy. “I said to Harry (Diamond) literally trying to make the ball believe today. I feel like I didn’t really have a full blow after that.
“He really became a squall on seven, eight, new, 10 for us, so playing these holes on even the peer was huge. Then, he started to settle down and was a little more sheltered on this nine rear.
“It was nice to pick up a few birdies on the way.”
The second round, the leader, Sepp Straka (-16), saved his third round with four birdies in his last five holes to keep an advance before the last day.
Justin Rose (-14) appreciated another strong round with four under 68 putting him a blow behind McILroy and Lowry to set up a successful final round.
Scottie Scheffler finished 10 sous with a third round 69 when he continued his return after an injury in his hand suffered during cooking last month.
