David Brooks recovered Wales A precious draw of the 1-1 World Cup against northern Macedonia with almost the last kick of the match in Skopje.
Wales was the best side all along, but they underwent a suction cup punch in a dramatic finish that saw the north of Macedonia at the first minute of the downtime.
The horrible rear pass of the substitute Joe Allen was intended for Joe Rodon but was cut by Bojan Miovski and he finished brilliantly, marking the ball under Karl Darlow.
Wales seemed to go down and go out, but in the sixth additional minute, Kieffer Moore put his head on a long ball and Brooks tightened the ball through the line.
With Belgium’s favorites who have not yet shot in group J, it could still be an expensive draw for Wales in the race for an automatic place in the 2026 finals in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Northern Macedonia had won a sixth consecutive victory – the longest series of victories in their history – brushing the Liechtenstein on Saturday and now continuing their solid start to the World Cup to qualify with another point on Tuesday evening.
Bellamy in shock after the “best performance” since its management
Wales chief Craig Bellamy::
“Always a little shock with the way it played the last number of minutes. I felt that we were the best team, I must be honest.
“And it is not at all a lack of respect. I thought we checked the game. I could have made one or two best decisions in the last third, but a goal had still defined a goal.
“I was really satisfied with performance. Now, of course, I want results. And go here with a point leaves me disappointed, but in a way that I have to accept.
“It will give us such strength. I thought it was one of the best performances since I was here. A very difficult place to come and play football.
