Dominion Energy has regulated electrical operations and public natural gas services in 13 states. The company generates, transmits and distributes electricity and has retail and wholesale. The Dominion portfolio has 40 GW of production capacity, 85,600 miles of electrical distribution lines and 10,600 miles of electrical transmission lines. Currently, the electric service is provided to 3.6 million customers in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Natural gas is provided to 500,000 customers in South Carolina.
Revenues in 2024 reached nearly $ 14.5 billion and operating profits were around 2.4 billion dollars. On 2024 operating benefits, around 84% came from Dominion Energy Virginia. The company operates five nuclear production sites and the Dominion fuel mixture is 42% nuclear, although the production is still due to gas, coal and oil. To change this mixture, Dominion develops renewable sources, including solar energy. However, it does not expect to make net-zero emissions until 2050, in accordance with peers which depend strongly on coal.
