Robotaxi Maker belonging to Amazon Zoox has launched a reminder to update software in 270 driver -free vehicles after an accident in Las Vegas.
Zoox announced the recall of the software on Monday, saying that the update deals with the “deep cause” of the recent collision and has already been deployed in potentially affected vehicles.
The accident involving an unoccupied Robotaxi Zoox and a tourist car in Las Vegas took place on April 8, according to a national recall report at the National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the company. No one was injured in the accident.

The accident occurred after a passenger car “quickly approached the path where our Robotaxi designed by the goal was deploying,” said Zoox on his website on Monday.

“Anticipating that the passenger car was advancing, the Robotaxi zoox slowed down and headed to the right. Instead, the car stopped fully, fully yielding to the Robotaxi Zoox and remaining in the shoulder track,” continued the manufacturer of Robotaxi. “The Robotaxi Zoox has slowed down hard, but the contact was inevitable.”
The company carried out a “analysis and rigorous tests” to determine what led to the collision, according to Zoox. He also temporarily interrupted his driver -free vehicle operations.
According to the NHTSA report, the old version of the automated driving system software previously installed in the affected Robotaxis Zoox “can make an inaccurate prediction when another vehicle slowly approaches perpendicular and stops” in certain situations, which could make it possible to “avoid an accident”.
However, Zoox has updated the software in mid-April to remedy the problem.
