A report of The New York Times During the weekend, highlights the small – but apparently growing – trend of users carrying their Apple watches on their ankles. What becomes something of a viral sensation on social platforms like Tiktok is the result of a pragmatic decision. Certain wrists from Apple Watch owners are simply too small to obtain an appropriate reading with on -board sensors such as monitoring of heart rate.
Others to join the movement are health workers, whose jobs prohibit them from carrying anything on their wrists, and people whose wrist tattoos confuse the sensors of the watch. (An ingenious watch carrier discovered a velcro strap of the retailer outside Marshalls brand made comfortably on the ankle.) Apple refused to comment on the trend, although the company previously noted that its intelligent watch is specifically calibrated for the wrist.
The report arrives at the expected launch of Apple Beats Pro 2, the company’s first earpiece with integrated heart rate monitoring.
