“Life” may not have been a great success when he landed in theaters in 2017, but several years later, he found a new life on Prime Video. Featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds, the science fiction horror film climbed to the top of the streaming charts, arriving at No. 4, and honestly, it deserves this second chance. Written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the cast of “Life” also includes Rebecca Ferguson, the star of “Shōgun” winner of an Emmy Hiroyuki Sanada, Olga Dihovichnaya and Ariyon Bakare. Alongside Gyllenhaal and Reynolds, they play astronauts on the international space station that come into contact with an extraterrestrial life form. Unfortunately, this small brush is not the friendly and external type soon the crew one by one, letting the survivors do everything they can to prevent it from returning to earth.
Our own Jacob hall described the “life” like “an old -fashioned film B and disguised as a blockbuster”, with a great creature at the center of this functionality. Sometimes responding to “Alien” and “The Thing”, the film directed by Daniel Espinosa keeps you hanging thanks to the star power that miserably fails to keep this monster at a distance. It could be any group of daring baskets to oscillate the Beastie with a stick, but because it is Gyllenhaal, Reynolds and the crew trying to stop the Etoile -type Spatial Envader, that makes a much larger watch than it should be.
It also becomes an even better vision if you follow the headcanon created by Armies of Comic Book Movie Fans when the film was initially released, just before a certain anti-hero Marvel made its solo debut.
Life always works like a prequel to venom, honest
Before and during its release, an idea appeared that “life” was secretly linked to one of the next adaptations of comic strips of Sony at the time: “Venom”. Without diving too much in the spoiler territory (yes, it’s so good that we don’t want to spoil an eight -year -old film), a Reddit theory proposed that “life” was a prequel to “venom”, which arrived the following year. The addition of fuel to this speculation focused on fans was the fact that the writers of the science fiction film also wrote a “venom” script that Sony transmitted. “Life” even presented a crowd clip of “Spider-Man 3”, doing what to make additional speculations according to which he could be the most intelligent franchise that Kickstarter Sony could hope. This was not the case, but Reese and Wernick themselves loved the idea.
“Suddenly, someone goes there, ‘bing! Lightbulb!’,” Wernick said Comicbook.com. Reese even agreed that the film would have made a great prequel. “It would be the case, right?” He cooked with the site, Reese packing up his writing partner. “It’s the symbiote! Eddie Brock is on earth. The symbiote is on earth, finds Eddie Brock. He realizes that he can hide inside a human.”
Of course, it may not be official, but you can go ahead and keep the headcanon that “life” is a prequel to “venom” after all-and the best film by Sony “Spider-Man” Universe that we have never had.
