First on Fox: A new initiative follows government agency spending on growth, and a conservative tax surveillance group discovered what it deems an alarming trend.
According to Openthebooks, the levels of staff of the Ministry of Education have decreased since 2000, but agency spending increased by 749%. Openthebooks claims that the calculation is “even more exasperating” after recent statistics of the national evaluation of educational progress have shown that the performance of students has still not re-established because it saw large drops during the Pandemic COVVI- 19.
These graphics would display numbers from the Ministry of Education that have been discovered by Openhebooks. Department staff have dropped since 2000, but agency expenses have almost eight.
Openthebooks data on the Ministry of Education are part of a broader initiative which is unveiled by the group on Thursday to trace agency spending on agency spending in order to provide the public “a clearer image of the government as it is “. While Openthebooks followed agency expenses against size, he found that federal agency spending has largely exceeded the rate to which these agencies have increased over time.
In a report Announces the new initiative, the tax surveillance group has cited complaints concerning the so -called economy efforts by the Ministry of Government efficiency (DOGE) and its leader, the technological billionaire Elon Musk, questioning the need for reductions expenses in the face of a federal workforce which has remained largely static in terms of size.
In some cases, as at the Ministry of Education, the group noted up to seven increase in expenses while the staff staff have remained relatively static or even lowered. At the National Institutes of Health, for example, staff levels appreciated 21.5%, but spending increased by 301%.
Trump issues a warning on unnecessary expenses, the orders of “radical transparency” in the midst of the Doges probes, revelations
Savannah Newhouse, spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, criticized previous administrations to “spend the dollars of taxpayers in priority that do nothing to help our students to learn”.
Newhouse has cited programs such as “training in the teacher preparation programs and” shares assistance centers “in the department, adding that the lack of concentration of the agency on students’ results has been put in evidence by recent data of the national evaluation of education progress.
“Under President Trump, the ministry audit aggressively audit our expenses to ensure a maximum impact for students and the responsible management of taxpayers’ dollars,” she said.

Openhebooks noted that expenses of federal agencies have largely exceeded the rate to which these agencies have increased over time. For example, staff levels from the Ministry of Education have decreased over the past 25 years, spending has increased by almost 750%.
In addition to following spending over agency growth, Openhebooks also found that at least 75 federal agencies listed in the Federal Register are actually “disappeared or obsolete”, because they have become subsumed by other entities, renowned or in some cases no longer exist. The group noted that the files of these “missing” agencies are often obsolete, which makes it difficult for the public to determine a complete image of the federal government.
“In many federal agencies, expenses have exceeded not only inflation but also growing staff – often on several occasions. This raises an important question: where is money going?” The CEO of Openhebooks, John Hart, said in a statement at Fox News Digital. “Taxpayers deserve to see the growth of expenses in each agency so that they can decide how much we need … If excessive waste and fraud that we have discovered over the years – and Doge highlights – is A guide, taxpayers can be better served by much less than 441 agencies, including those that are disappeared. ”

Until now, Openhebooks has drawn 50 federal agencies as far as the data go, and the group has created an accessible database which gives the public “a clearer image of the government as it is”. While the group traces more agencies, it will periodically publish their results.
