The promoter of Golden Boy Oscar of the Hoya thinks that if the British fighters Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. fight a revenge match, this “ended their careers” because of the punishment they absorb during a second war.
Eubank Jr. launched almost 1000 punches and had Benn near being eliminated during towers 11 and 12. Chris Jr. landed 367 out of 912 launched for 40.2%. Benn was 215 out of 593, for 36.3%.
Benn and Eubank Jr. I have no career. They operate at the national British level. Thus, even if they are physically stranded after a second war, they can continue to fight the same level of opposition as before without any decline because they do not fight world class fighters.
Eddie Hearn expressed his conviction that Benn can win world titles at 147 and 154, but any light hope that this happens could be wiped out if he fights Eubank Jr. in another exhausting match.
The two fighters exchanged bombs at close range last Saturday evening in London, England. The naturally larger and more experienced fighter, Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KB), beat Benn (23-1, 14 KB) by a unanimous decision of 12 laps by the 116-112 x 3 scores.
The warning of the Hoya
“A revenge match will immediately end their careers. It’s so intense,” Oscar de la Hoya told Combination About Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr., if they are fighting again because of how their first match was exhausting.
The promoter Eddie Hearn expressed his concern for Benn’s career if he takes the revenge match with Eubank Jr. because he knows that it will be an exhausting fight that will push him to the edge. If Conor simply cares about money and obtaining this big salary, he will probably take the revenge match. He already said he wanted to fight Eubank Jr. again
If Benn returns to the Welters weight division after a second fight with Eubank Jr, he will not do well if he fights against the suitors or one of the champions. Even the WBC champion, Mario Barrios, would be too good for him, especially after being touched a lot by Eubank Jr.
