When the reparable and scalable laptop of Framewor 13 came out A few years agoIt was exactly the disturbance we needed in portable computer space. Here is a laptop that allowed you to personalize your guts when ordering, then you can upgrade or repair various components in the future if necessary. It was expensive, but you would not have to pay a bundle of money for a new laptop every five years just because you don’t have enough RAM.
The company is back to start again. Earlier this week, Framework announced the Laptop 12 Alongside a new office PC. The laptop 12 is a budgetary laptop that does not look horrible, is completely modular and does not skimp on performance and display. If it seems too good to be true, you are not alone. We do not yet know the price, which is incredibly important. But keeping it a “budgetary” laptop is the declared objective of Framework.
“We are building products to repair what we consider as a broken industry, and few categories are as emblematic problems with consumer electronics as entry -level laptops,” explains the CEO of Framework Nirav Patel On the company’s blog. Whether or not the frame has the antidote, a patel is right on the diagnosis. Purchases for a cheap Windows laptop will be depressed by the state of the industry. They are often undernourished and slow, not to mention all ugly too.
Chromebook killer
Laptop 12 has a small 12.2 inch screen, hence the name. But it is a 2 in 1 convertible laptop, which means that it has a 360 degree hinge that allows you to turn the screen to use it as a tablet. With this comes a touch screen and an optional stylus – a first for the framework.
We always miss several details to complete the image, such as the thickness and weight of the laptop – these details will arrive when pre -orders open in April – but the photos of the machine show an elegant PC that looks better than any budget laptop that I have ever seen. The five new bold color options are not hurting either.
However, he has very thick glasses around the screen, something that you will not find outside the world of the Chromebook on budget these days. The laptop 12 compensates by ensuring that the screen is better than what you will generally find on a budget laptop. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1,200 pixels and up to 400 nits of brightness (the MacBook Air amounts to 500 nits).
The keystroke of a framework is once again modularity. Unlike ChromeBooks – and practically all Windows laptops – the Framework 12 laptop is fully modular, just like its larger brothers and sisters. The main panel system is always in place, allowing you to easily replace the processor (and the motherboard attached) for something more up to date for years. It is so easy that an IT administrator can upgrade a boat load of these PCs in just a few hours.
