Ashutosh Kumar, founder of Offmint, made the history of Shark Tank India by becoming the first entrepreneur to present twice with different brands. His first appearance during season 2 ended without agreement, but that left a lasting impact. The encouragement of Sharks at the time then changed his life, fixing the basics of his return with a new business. However, his return trip to the reservoir transported deeper personal issues.
Ashutosh said he was not looking for funds but rather the expertise of Sharks. “I’m not there for money; I am here to search for the expertise of Sharks as Guru Dakshina, “he said. Its objective through the deposit is to honor the memory of its late father while building a sustainable fast fashion brand.
When Anupam Mittal asked Ashutosh to share his story, he revealed a heartbreaking detail – he lost his father on the same day that he appeared on Shark Tank India 2. “It was my breakdown,” shared Ashutosh, visibly emotional. He had no choice but to intensify and take responsibility for his family. His story moved the sharks, Aman Gupta admitting: “I made his story heard.”
In the middle of sorrow, Ashutosh found the strength of family support and an unexpected ally – Rani Ahluwalia, a fan of Shark Tank India from London. Believing in her vision, she invested RS 5 crosses and became co-founder of Offmint.
Rani’s initial investment gave offmint a good start, but Ashutosh returned to the tank with a unique offer – he only asked RS 10 in exchange for the advice of Sharks. Namita Thapar was quick to support an agreement of five sharks. However, Anupam Mittal had questions about USP figures and brand sales before accelerating.
In the end, the Sharks offered RS 10 Lakh for 4% equity. Ashutosh sealed the agreement with the five – Anupam Mittal, Aman Gupta, Vineeta Singh, Peyush Bansal and Namita Thapar. The Sharks admired his perseverance and his mission. Offmint, known for his eco-conscient approach, offers each customer an integrated seed pen to recall their commitment to sustainability.
