Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma triggered discussions on the potential inclusion of Mystery Spinner Varun Chakravarthy in the team for the Champions Trophy 2025. While Chakravarthy has mainly made its mark in T20 format, Rohit suggested that the unique skills of the Spinner could make it a precious asset for the team in the future. The Champions Trophy being an ODI tournament, the question remains whether Chakravarthy can adapt its game to 50 on site and secure a place in the team.
Unique skills set of Varun Chakravarthy
Chakravarthy, known for his mystery rotation and his ability to deceive the strikers with his variations, was an out -of -competition artist in the Premier Indian League (IPL) and T20 Internationals. His ability to play in the middle of the Overs and Death, associated with his talent for having picked up crucial counters, made him a precious asset in the shortest format of the game.
However, the ODI format requires a different approach because the spinners in cricket at 50 years must maintain consistency on longer spells and adapt to variable match situations. Although Chakravarthy’s experience in ODI format is zero, its unconventional bowling style could provide India with a strategic advantage in the Champions Trophy, in particular on the locations that promote rotation. If he can demonstrate the ability to control the flow of races and take counters in the medium letters, he could become a key element in the Bowling attack in India.
