US President Donald Trump said he would impose an additional 25% rate on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, degenerating his battle with one of the largest trade partners in the United States.
“I asked my trade secretary to add an additional 25%rate to 50%on all steel and aluminum that arrives in the United States of Canada, one of the highest pricing nations in the world,” Trump wrote on his Truth social platform on Tuesday.
He added that the levy would come into force on Wednesday.
Trump also said that if Canada did not lower its “long-term” prices, it would “increase considerably” the samples from cars entering the United States, a move which, according to him, was “essentially closing” the country in the country of the country.
