I don’t know what your FYP Tiktok looks like, but the clips in the meeting series burst the ball or Find Love are constantly rotating on mine. Now, the viral success show by host Arlette Amuli and her husband Bolia Matundu receives the Netflix treatment, the streaming service announced on Thursday.
Corned by the couple, Pop The Balloon found an audience on YouTube and Tiktok, and even succeeded Saturday Night Live as a sketch of Parody. The version of Netflix is entitled Pop the Balloon Live and will start to broadcast live every Thursday at 8 p.m. HE from April 10.
Hosted by Yvonne Orji, the series format will be similar to the original, the fact that single candidates align with their red balloons while trying to make a romantic link with the main guest. Exhale the ball to report the rejection, or keep it intact to point out a real interest.
What will be different? The Netflix series will bring “even higher issues, fresh twists and turns and surprises of celebrities”. Certain personalities that viewers will see include Johnny Bananas, Chase Demoor and Farrah Abraham. Although Mali does not host this iteration, she and Matundou are behind the scenes as executive producers.
“We are delighted to see Pop the Balloon take a new life on Netflix,” said Amuli and Matunddu. “From the first day, we kept love and pleasure at the heart of the show, and watching it evolve and hovering beyond our wildest dreams was really exciting. As executive producers, we are proud to support this next chapter and we are looking forward to the new and long-standing fans.
“Yvonne is engaging, full of mind and authentic – and we are impatiently waiting for it to serve as host for the rethought version at Netflix!”
