Dawn? Came out! Northern lights tend on social networks ThursdayBut don’t be too hopeful. Only a limited region of the United States can see it.
According to the Space weather prediction center At the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Aurora Borealis on Thursday will be rather soft. The agency requests a KP index of around 4, which indicates a “silent dawn”. In recent weeks, they have appeared rather regularly, indicating that the dawn that occurs this week are nothing too special.

John Clarke, professor emeritus of astronomy at the University of Boston, says that online predictions are closer to 5 kp.
Despite the higher prediction, Clarke says that the Aurora should mainly cover Canada and not the United States, but notes that “what is happening depends on the solar wind, and (the KP index) are only predictions”.
There is a chance that people of certain states can see it, mainly in the states bordering Canada. They include Washington, Montana, Northern Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Maine. In the unlikely case, it reaches the South, the South Dakota, New Hampshire and Vermont could embark on action.
The inhabitants of Alaska will have the best view, because the strongest part of the Aurora should decide through the central and northern state sections.
Last year, there were some exceptional examples of Aurora Borealis which reached South Texas for some people. Since then, Aurora’s observations have become great news, even if these are not the most spectacular examples.

Are the dawn more?
Although this Aurora is not too special, that does not mean that a good dawn will not come soon. We are in the middle of the Aurora season, which extends over March and April of each year (as well as September and October). This means that for next month, there is a good chance of activity.
The sun is also at the top of its 11 -year cycle, which means that solar activity will be at a record level for the next year. When the sun is as active, it launches more solar enlightening rockets than normal. Since solar eruptions strike the earth is the way the aurora is formed, this means that there is still an even higher chance of a good dawn in next month.
However, solar weather is much like regular time here on earth. It is difficult to predict. So there may be a quiet season from Aurora despite the fact that all the chances are in favor of a great dawn to come soon. So, if you hug the Canadian border, it wouldn’t hurt to go out and check the sky tonight. This could be better than forecasts indicate it.
