The final of season 2 of “Severance” may be the darkest payment of the show to date. After viewers have spent so much time rooted to Innie Mark and Outtie Mark to meet, the two can finally speak and this is the case not Go well. It turns out that Outtie Mark is a bit like Outtie Helena, in that he failed to appreciate his innie as a real person in competition. He does not obtain that Innie Mark values his own life as much as anyone who does, and he will not let Mark out deactivate him.

Their inability to find common ground may lead to the last most devastating moments of a final of the television show for years: Innie Mark abandoned Mark’s wife, Gemma, in order to return to a romance (probably condemned) with Helly. You can say that “Cold Harbor” has an end that hopes from the point of view of the Innies, but it is certainly a downer with regard to points of view.
The conversation between the two brands, that which foreshadows the tragedy of the end of the episode, is what almost led the final to have a completely different title. As the screenwriter Dan Erikson explained in a recent interview with Squire“Cold Harbor” was initially appointed from a film “Star Trek”.
“”[The conversation between Innie and Outie Mark] is a scene that I had always wanted to write, “said Erikson.” It’s funny – I initially titled the “First Contact” episode. This is their first contact. It is also a reference to Adam Scott, who was in “Star Trek: First Contact”. I always knew that at some point, we had to put these two face to face insofar as it is possible – since they have the same face. “”

Why the show went with “Cold Harbor” instead
In the end, it seems that the “Star Trek” connection is not sufficient to justify this kind of title. (The role of Adam Scott in the “Star Trek” franchise is fun, but short -lived and unshakable.) It was more logical to go with “Cold Harbor”, a title which involved a resolution to the long -standing mystery of what the microdulation refinement team “refined” all season.

Although viewers have already received most of what Cold Harbor was in the seventh frightening episode of the season, which plunged into what was going on with Gemma all this time, the final of season 2 was the first time that Mark himself learned that the project he worked on East his wife. It is also the episode where he and Innie Mark manage to work together just long enough to get Gemma out of Lumon’s cut floors, something that Mark has tried to do for some time. The first contact between the two brands may have been the catalyst for a large part of what happened in the final, but Gemma is certainly the most important person here.
There is a good chance that Gemma receives much more time in season 3, and viewers will be able to know it correctly on the same degree that we now know Mark or Helly. It will be a major change to the status quo of the series, one with perhaps the largest ramifications of any point in the intrigue of this episode. “First contact” may have been a decent title, serving as a fun Easter egg for all Hardcore fans of Adam Scott in the audience, but “Cold Harbor” was certainly the smarter title for the final as a whole.
