The mid -2010 mid -years was a good time for Matthew McConaughey, who found himself gaining a new level of respect as an actor for his punch of “True Detective” and “Interstellar” in 2014. Marvel leaders seemed to take note of the McConaway, which is the reason why they asked him to join the casting of “Galaxy guards: volume.”. He would have played Star Lord’s father, Ego, and we are sure he would have done a great job. (Not that we have complaints concerning the performance of Kurt Russell, be careful.)
But McConaughey refused the offer, opting rather to play in “The Dark Tower”, a fantastic film which also released in 2017. While “Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2” was a great critical / box office success, this film was a total flop. Fans of the book IT Adapting (“The Gunslinger”) hated that, critics hated him, and regular viewers found him forgettable. The film made its box office budget, but still won close enough to justify a suite. It seems that it is the right choice for McConaughey, but he had good reasons for the decision.
“I like the” guards of the galaxy “, he said to the independent At the time, “but what I saw was:” It’s a success, and now we have room to make a colorful part for another big actor. “I would feel like an amendment.” Meanwhile, he would become the co-leader of “The Dark Tower”, serving a significant part of the series of the first day. “I can be the creator, the author of the man in black – alias the devil – in my version of this novel by Stephen King,” he said.
Logic is certainly a bit strange. I do not know any fans “Guardians of the Galaxy” which described the Ego of Kurt Russell as an “amendment”, for one. The character played a significant and memorable role in the trilogy, then on the left when the weather was right for the character. Meanwhile, “Dark Tower” books serve as a clear example of how the characters can be added in the consequences without feeling like amendments. Two of his best most important characters – Eddie and Susannah – do not appear before Book 2, and readers love them.
Unfortunately, the role of McConaughey as a black man was short -lived
In the end, this is probably the main reason why McConaughey chose “The Dark Tower” was because the film simply called on its taste. He described the film as: “A fantastic thriller that takes place in another kingdom, an alternative universe, but it is very anchored.” He added later: “I enjoyed approaching my character as if I was the devil to have a good time, lighting up by exhibiting human hypocrisies wherever he finds them.”
It is easy to see what it means; Her performance by Idris Elba were the best parts of the film, the only elements that no one can complain about. The film itself may not have done great justice to the source material, but McConaughey did justice to the man in black, otherwise known as Walter Padick or Randall Flagg. (He has a lot of names.) If things had gone as planned, the character of McConaughey would have returned to the consequences to continue to wreak havoc.
Instead, any following plans in the series could have been put in late after the film’s release. Fans of “Dark Tower” have spent the next few years without any hope of a good faithful adaptation, before Amazon announced that a television adaptation was in preparation in 2022. This will be led by Mike Flanagan, who has already adapted “Doctor Sleep” and “Gerald’s Game” with great success. The details on the project are always rare, but they will probably launch someone new in the main roles. The future of the “Dark Tower” series in Hollywood is still brilliant, but unfortunately with regard to the role of McConaughey in the series, it seems that the world has evolved.
