Acting is a mercury profession; There is not a single good way to do it. Since the 1950s, when groups like the actor’s studio, as well as instructors like Lee Strasberg have started to adopt actor techniques developed for the stage of decades earlier by Konstantin Stanislavski for cinema and television, the art of acting for the screen has been considerably diversified. During the last half century and change, many cinema actors began to adopt the method or create their own form for themselves. This last idea is essentially where we found ourselves with regard to most of the actors who work these days, because everyone mainly uses their own approach in order to obtain the desired result.

Although we had to dispute a set of actors who all work in different ways make the work of a director much more complex, it is this final result which is essential. However, there is no doubt that frustrations can occur during the shooting, thanks to the process of an actor. All these frustrations do not need to be as dramatic as, let’s say, Jared Leto sending rodents dead co-stars while pulling on “suicide squad”. Sometimes, these can be minor discomforts that add up, as is apparently the case with David Corenswet’s behavior towards director James Gunn while the two created the “Superman” of this year. Apparently Corenswet flooded its director of constant questions while shooting on the grain with a big budget, a film that Gunn declared publicly made him feel immense pressure, taking into account the way it is essentially the first de facto effort of the dc studios of DC of Gunn and Peter Safran. However, to be fair towards Corenswet, Gunn apparently kindly delivered his star despite the requests of his time, and it seems that Gunn offered Corens his thought and his attention may have made a really big superman, both the character and the film.

Corenswet was pleasantly surprised to be able to have long discussions on “Superman”
According to a profile of the actor in timeDavid Corenswet tried to get into his “Superman” experience with the measured expectations and his eyes wide open. Even if he appeared as the antagonist (human) of the “twisters” of last summer, Corenswet seems to realize that his turn as Kal-El aka Clark Kent will exponentially increase his recognition forever. In addition, he knew that a film like “Superman” involves many characters, special effects and other mobile pieces. Regarding Gunn, he had only one condition to which Corenswet had to adhere, which was to imitate the role of leadership demonstrated by the ancient men of Gunn, Chris Pratt (on the films “Guardians of the Galaxy”) and John Cena (on “The Suicide Squad” and the series “Peacemaker”), saying to the actor that these men “Treated everyone with kindness and respect”. With all this, Corenswet knew that “Superman” needed his altruism on the screen and away.

However, Corenswet has acquired the reputation of being a very curious actor, something that indicates that he approaches his profession from an intellectual and well -documented perspective. Although he initially supposed that “Superman” would not be a project where he could have in -depth discussions with his director on the motivations of the character and others, he was delighted to see that he was wrong. As he explained:
“I was sure that the largest furniture machine is the place where these conversations will not have had. And it turned out that it was the opposite.”
This heavy mentality of questions makes sense when you discover that Corenswet was not only a child actor who played in a number of professional productions growing up but also attended Julliard, graduated in 2016. The man has big Theater Kid Energy!

Gunn was frustrated by Corenswet questions at first, but it made a better “ superman ”
As I mentioned earlier, Gunn’s feelings about Corenswet’s flow of questions were not initially pleasant, because the filmmaker was trying to keep the different “Superman” plates turning during the shooting. In the typical manner of Gunn, he did not chop words on the Corenswet process in the time profile, and he failed to add to what extent that was ultimately useful for the performance of the actor and the film as a whole:

“David is pain in the ass because he asks a ton of questions about every little moment. But I honestly think that my favorite moments were where I would be irritated by his endless questions and I led anyway, and then I would see these questions into something magical in his performance.”
In the end, even if the Corenswet process requires more attention from its director than usual, the actor has a good head on his shoulders on his profession and his role in the cinema process, as he said:
“I really want to be good. But I don’t run the film. I give James’ puzzle pieces, and he can choose the one that goes in which place.”
Judging by the response very favorable to the trailer and other materials released for the film so far, it seems that Corenswet and Gunn have indeed put these pieces in their right place. As for the behavior on the Corenswet plateau, Gunn was sure to emphasize that his constant interrogation came from a real place of respect for the material and not from selfishness:

“I saw sets that are addressed to an actor or the ego of a director and it is simply not something that would happen with David. He is Superman, even in his Nerdiness … Like Superman, he is a simple man in complicated moments.”
This feeling makes this fan of superman incredibly optimistic about “Superman”, in that it really captures what I think is the main attraction of the character. If even a little of this simplicity anchored that Corenswet and Kal-El may share on the screen, then we are for a treat this summer, no necessary question.
