The president of Santos, Marcelo Teixeira transfer in Europe.
Neymar returned to Vila Belmiro during the winter window after a desperately disappointing spell in Al Hilal, achieving a short -term agreement until June 30. A serious LCA injury derailed the 18 -month -old passage in Saudi Arabia, but its rapid beginning in Brazil sparked admiring looks from the whole continent.
Barcelona was strongly linked to their former winger while Bundesliga Giants Bayern Munich also became surprises. However, Santos desperately wishes to extend the existing Neymar contract.
“The most difficult part is already over, which was to have it here,” said Texeira Marca this week. “We will see the technical response and the results of the club. We are working on sponsorships … He has already shown that he is not concerned about the financial aspect.
“The entire Technical Committee accompanied him to his matches; everyone supports Santos, the whole country. And that will influence the possibility that he remains here in the near future. The national team has recalled it.”
Teixeira has repeatedly reiterated that Neymar is “engaged in the project” in Santos and praised the prolific playmaker as “happy, he is happy, focused on being an important factor in Santos”.
Financial motivation does not seem to be the determining factor of Neymar – which has ordered allegating wages of the richest teams in the world in the last decade. Teixeira confirmed that Santos could not match any of the economic offers that Neymar received clubs outside Brazil, describing the player’s decision as “a question of feeling”.
In terms of emotional attraction, there is the obvious attraction of Barcelona. Teixeira insisted that Santos always had a “very healthy relationship” with Liga leaders despite the legal complications that resulted from Neymar’s decision in Catalonia in 2013. Barcelona would have challenged Brazil’s top scorer to accumulate 15 goals in the rest of the campaign before opening discussions. Neymar has already found the net three times.
