Dan Burn says he thought that his chance to play for England may not come but now targets a place in the World Cup.
The 32 -year -old man had all week, scoring the first goal in the victory of the Newcastle League Cup against Liverpool before joining the first team of Engladn of Thomas Tuchel.
Barely seven years ago, Burn played in League One, years old his career saw spells with Darlington, Yeovil and Wigan before moving in the Premier League.
“I think I was overlooked, but I understood it,” he said.
“When the new manager arrived, there was a clean slate, but once you have been died for so many international breaks, you agree that the time has happened, but fortunately, the new manager tried me a chance.
“It probably made me very resilient.
“I made my first league debut at 21 and three years later, I was released by Fulham, so I think it made me stronger.
“I doubted my career a lot.
Burn said his goal was now to secure his place in Tuchel’s plans for the World Cup campaign and appear on the biggest football scene.
He added: “I try to take camp by camp per minute.
“But obviously, it’s every child’s dream to play in a World Cup or even play for your country, so to know that I have this opportunity, if I take it, it’s special.”
