Tottenham Hotspur would be among several clubs which kept an eye on the feeling of Crystal Palace Adam Wharton, the north side of London preparing for a crucial summer of change.
With the future of Angel Postcoglou at the club suspended in balance after a turbulent season on and off the field, the Spurs are preparing for possible changes of scanning in management and game staff.
Several managers have been linked to the hot seat in the middle of the uncertain status of PostCoglou, notably Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva, Thomas Frank and, more recently, the boss of Crystal Palace Oliver Glasner. The reports claim that the Spurs have already contacted the Glasner camp concerning a potential summer move.
In terms of transfer, the palace midfielder Adam Wharton is linked to a move to Tottenham.
The 21 -year -old was one of the stars in small groups of the season after joining Palace by Blackburn Rovers for 18 million pounds Sterling in February 2024. Under Glasner, he became a key figure at the heart of the Palace midfielder.
With Rodrigo Bentancur linked to a move to Atletico Madrid and Yves Bissouma likely to be discharged, the spurs are on the market for a young defensive midfielder – and Wharton adapts perfectly to the profile.
Tottenham was successful in recent windows by investing in young talents, with Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall brilliants as two of the club’s out of competition players this season. Wharton could be the next exciting addition to this nucleus.
Palace requests club record fees for Adam Wharton
However, the price of Wharton of the Selhurst park will not be easy. According to GivemesportCrystal Palace will require record fees of around 100 million pounds sterling for their star of starremen.
This figure could become a major stumbling block for Spurs, which are unlikely to respect such an evaluation despite their continuous research of the player.
The form of Wharton also did not go unnoticed by other elite clubs, with Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool which would have all been interested.
Most of these clubs would have no problem matching the requested palace price, putting Tottenham in a financial disadvantage.
Glasner’s appointment could be essential to Wharton’s Tottenham Pursuit
A glimmer of hope for spurs could reside in the potential appointment of Oliver Glasner. If the boss of the palace moves north of London, his existing relationship with Wharton can offer Tottenham a slight advantage of negotiations – although the imposing price will remain a massive obstacle.
As summer approaches, Wharton seems to be one of the most sought -after fields in Europe. The question of whether the spurs can make their way in the race – or allow it – is a question that remains unanswered.
