Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United is part of a new investigation into the illegal game, but the club is convinced that their starry midfielder will not face another ban on playing.
Tonali was sidelined for ten months in October 2023, only a few weeks of Newcastle making him the most expensive Italian player of all time, after admitting having placed betting on football while playing for the old AC Milan club. Later, he spent several months being treated for dependence on the game.
The new survey, reported by Timerelates to the original case for which Tonali has already served a suspension. He is not the only player appointed by Italian prosecutors, with the center of this survey on an illegal platform used to play. The bets in question were not placed on football either.
After having been assured of the nature of the investigation, Newcastle would have “no concern” about Tonali in the face of new sports sanctions, although he and others can be sentenced to a fine so found guilty of illegal game from a criminal point of view. Prosecutors confirmed that five arrests had been processed, but no player suspected of reprehensible acts is in detention.
Angel Di Maria, Leandro Parkes, Nicolo Fagioli, Weston McKennie, Mattia Perin and a handful of others were appointed in reports from Italian press agencies.
Tonali has prospered for Newcastle since his suspension return in the first weeks of this season, the club won the Carabao Cup to break a drought from the major 56 -year -old trophy and put himself in an excellent position for qualification in the Champions League.
But this form has also seen its future with the Magpies becoming the subject of speculation in the interests of the transferred transfer of Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid. It was even stated in Europe that Tonali informed Newcastle that he would prefer to leave.
In turn, Newcastle was linked to Crystal Palace n ° 10 Ebelechi Eze and a versatile but underused Liverpool midfielder, Harvey Elliott.
