In a humorous critique of corporate work culture, Kunwar Raj, the founder of Superpen, a content creation company, went viral for a satirical LinkedIn post advertising a part-time chief of staff position with outrageous demands .
The post follows L&T chairman SN Subrahmanyan’s controversial remarks pleading for longer working hours, including a provocative comment asking: “How long can you look at your wife?”
In his post, Raj playfully proposed a staggering 90 to 110 hour work week, mirroring Subrahmanyan’s call for employees to significantly extend their working hours. “Hiring Position Alert! Looking to hire a part-time Chief of Staff. Work Hour Requirement – 90-110 hours per week,” he wrote, striking a satirical tone that found a echoed by many.
Raj outlined several key responsibilities for this role, including:
1. Manage your overflowing email and LinkedIn inbox.
2. Ghostwriting your LinkedIn posts.
3. Writing code for Superpen.
4. Design prototypes and wireframes for new products.
5. Achieve monthly sales targets of Rs 1 crore.
6. Closed a $3 million seed funding round at a valuation of $15 million.
The requirements were equally tongue-in-cheek, requiring applicants to have an MBA from a tier 1 college, be single to avoid distractions and have prior experience at L&T or Infosys.
Raj humorously noted that the “compensation” would be “in line with low industry standards” and encouraged readers to comment “slavery must be abolished” to increase the message’s visibility.
The post quickly gained attention, with many social media users joining in on the humor. One LinkedIn user, responding sarcastically to the post, wrote: “I’m excited to announce that I’m applying for this incredible part-time opportunity as Chief Everything Officer! Why I’m a perfect fit for this role: A. Key Qualifications. I have over 25 years of experience condensed into my 30 years of life.”
She then goes on to explain why she is the perfect candidate for the role.
Another user commented: “Anyway there is at least some compensation as there was another chief of staff position but they wanted free work and insisted we put down money to charity. I am more than interested in this part-time position.”
