Marvel Star Benedict Cumberbatch has shared details about his character Doctor Strange’s appearance in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” film.
Cumberbatch was originally supposed to be part of the fifth “Avengers” film, but that would no longer be the case due to changes in plans.
“Avengers: Doomsday” will see the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the franchise to play the villain Doomsday, after playing Iron Man/Tony Stark for many years.

Cumberbatch recently had an interview for Variety‘s Sundance Cover and shared details about his Marvel character, Doctor Strange, who will appear in the upcoming “Avengers” film.
The 48-year-old actor revealed that the guardian of the Time Stone will not appear in “Avengers” Doomsday.
After realizing he had just shared a movie secret, Cumberbatch exclaimed, “Is that a spoiler? F-ck it!” However, he then explained why Doctor Strange wouldn’t be in the next “Avengers” installment.
According to Cumberbatch, plans for the film changed after Jonathan Major was fired following his conviction for assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Majors’ character, Kang, was supposed to be the main antagonist of the next phase of “Avengers,” but the franchise went in a different direction after his legal troubles.

Cumberbatch explained that Doctor Strange’s absence from “Doomsday” was because “the character didn’t fit that part of the story.”

Despite Doctor Strange’s absence in “Doomsday,” Cumberbatch made it clear to fans that they would see more of his character in the future.
He shared that Doctor Strange is “in a lot” of the franchise’s sixth installment, “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which is scheduled for release in 2027.
Cumberbatch said of his character: “He’s pretty central to where things could go.” He also hinted that there would be a third “Doctor Strange” movie, but didn’t give too many details about it.
However, the actor praised Marvel for the collaboration, saying, “They’re very open to discussing what’s next. Who do you want to write and direct next? What part of comic book history do you want explore so that Strange can continue to evolve?
