The director general of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Namita Thapar, is in the news for having called her colleagues “ Sharks ” during a recent episode of Shark Tank India season 4. During the field of the Rosha wireless lamps , the founders presented the first portable and rechargeable lighting brand in the country.
The founders asked for an investment of 60 Lakh in exchange for 1% of equity, evaluating their business at 60 crosses. The agreement was concluded at 60 Lakh for 4% and 1.5% of royalty up to 90 Lakh is recovered.
Boat Lifestyle CMO Aman Gupta and the co -founder of Lenskart, Peyush Bansal, complimented the founders – Kawardeep Singh, Gaurav Tikiya and Shivam Diwan – for the design of the lamps and tried to use the products.
Bansal even asked if the lamps were imported, to which Kawardeep said that few of their models had been imported when they started the business. Shivam also said how CMO’s mother’s mother’s lifestyle spotted their table lamp in Goa and also ordered it and also said that Bollywood Hrithik Roshan actor had brought several lamps for the same model.
After listening to the fundamental principles of the company, Anupam made an offer of 60 Lakh for 3% and a royalty of 1.5% of sales until it makes 1.5x of the amount. Ritesh joined Anupam, hikeing the 4%evaluation, bringing Namita out of the agreement.
Anupam, Aman and Ritesh offered 60 Lakh for 10% and 2% of equity. Thapar then said: “It’s an exploitation.” To this, Anupam told Thapar that the exploitation was when we sit in the show and does not give an offer.
Reddit users supported Namita for calling Anupam on the flagrant exploitation of the founders. “Respect for Namita to support the founders and has given Anupam a reality control about the exploitation,” said a user.
“Namita has gained some respect today for calling Anupam on the farm,” wrote a second user.
“Bloody Hell, it was a good exploitation. FRM 2%, evaluating at 30 CR at 10%, valuing 6 CR was an exploitation like Namita. Yes, it will not be something huge, but it was terrible” , a third user says.
“Anupam is shit on this program for the best shark to Wrst Shark, he gives an assessment of 6 CR to this company which has already finished selling and giving i think 20cr Valation to this Patch Up brand that it gives Offers to cope with the brand “” a fourth user commented.
The three founders opted for Aman Gupta and Ritesh Agarwal.
