When it rains, it rains, and that certainly seems to be the case for Arsenal this season.
Over the past week, Mikel Arteta’s side have dropped points against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, lost the first leg of their League Cup semi-final against Newcastle United and then, to cap off the everything, lost. on penalties against Manchester United reduced to ten in the FA Cup.
Yesterday’s defeat felt like a major blow to the Gunners’ chances of winning a trophy this season, and although the hosts have had poor performances on the pitch, the player who has since received the most criticism is Kai Havertz .

The Germany international continued his poor form in front of goal following the midweek defeat and missed a handful of brilliant chances to give his side the lead. Recent reports therefore link the club to a much more prolific center forward who could perhaps save his team. the season should excite fans.
Arsenal chase a clear goal
According to a recent report from Arsenal are keen on Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres, according to Independent magazine’s football editor Miguel Delaney.
Indeed, according to the journalist, the Gunners have a “growing interest” in the Swedish superstar.
However, fans may want to increase the breaks somewhat, as Delaney goes on to explain that the former Coventry City ace would cost around £80 million, which is a sum the club “would prefer to spend in the summer”.
It would be a lot of money to spend mid-campaign, but given the circumstances and the precipice the club feels they are on, it is money they need to spend, as not only would Gyokeres be an improvement massive compared to Havertz, but he might also just be able to save the team’s season.
How Gyokeres compares to Havertz
So with Gabriel Jesus looking set to be out for a while due to another serious injury, Havertz is undoubtedly Arsenal’s starting striker, meaning that if Gyokeres joined him this month, the German would be its most important competitor.
Unfortunately for the former Chelsea ace, and despite the good work he has done for the Gunners over the past year, he ranks far behind the Sporting CP star.
For example, in only 30 appearances this seasontotaling 2570 minutes, the “monster” with free scoring, as voiced by analyst Ben Mattinsonhas scored 32 goals and provided six assists, meaning he is currently averaging 1.26 goals per game, or one every 67.6 minutes.
On the other hand, number 29 of the Gunners scored 12 goals and delivered three assists in 27 appearances, totaling 2232 minutes, which works out to 0.55 goals per game, or one every 148.8 minutes.
The comparison remains one-sided when you peek under the hood and examine the underlying numbers.

For example, in virtually every metric, the Stockholm-born poacher comes out on top, with metrics including but not limited to expected and actual non-penalty goals, as well as assists, progressive runs, shots and shots on target, goal- and shot-creating actions, successful shots and more, all by 90.
Ultimately, although Havertz has been a valuable goalscorer for Arsenal over the past year and a half, his performances over the past week have made it impossible to ignore the North Londoners’ need for a superstar striker.
Therefore, even though it will be incredibly expensive, the club must bring Gyokeres to the Emirates this month.
Not only would he be an instant upgrade over the German, but he could also be good enough to save the Gunners’ season.
