Foreign tourists from all over the world arrived at the Maha Kumbh mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. A video featuring a man resembling the fictional character Harry Potter has gone viral on social media.
In the undated video, a man dressed in jeans and a down jacket can be seen casually enjoying prasad from a disposable plate. Needless to say, the video left netizens wondering if Daniel Radcliffe was actually attending the religious event.
“Ye Daniel Radcliffe at nahi hai na?” » asked one user. “Mujhe q lg rha h you Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter hai,” another user said.
“Harry Potter prasad ka aanand lete hue,” said a third user. “Bhai Harry Potter jaisa dikh raha hai (sic),” a fourth user commented.
“This is the beauty of Sanatan Dharma,” one user commented.
“He looks like a Harry Potter actor,” another user commented. “Harry Potter in Kumbh mela,” said another user. “Harry Potter jhadu se ud kr agya,” yet another user said jokingly.
Harry Potter is a fictional character brought to life by British writer JK Rowling in a series of books adapted into a popular film franchise. In the cinema, the role was played by British actor Daniel Radcliffe.
From January 11 to 20, around 8.79 million pilgrims took the holy bath at Sangam. The Maha Kumbh mela officially began on January 13 with the Paush Purnima bath, but devotees started arriving from January 11 itself.
Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 will end on February 26. The Maha Kumbh is unique as it marks the completion of 12 cycles of Kumbh Mela and occurs once in 144 years, with the previous such event taking place in 1881.
More than 45 million people are expected to attend the mega-event. In order to accommodate the pilgrims, the authorities have set up a temporary city of around 4,000 hectares. The temporary city houses 1.5 lakh tents, improved sanitation and improved transport facilities.
