The former Manchester United coach, René Meulensteen, questioned Ruben Amorim’s decision to publicly criticize the striker Marcus Rashford.
Rashford expressed the desire for a “new start” far from Old Trafford and did not play a single minute in the last 11 games of United while he is trying to leave his childhood club.
His relationship with Amorim seems to have deteriorated again, the Portuguese explaining last night why Rashford was not in the team for the 1-0 victory in Fulham.
Speaking after the match in Craven Cottage, Amorim said: “It’s always the same reason. Reason is training, the way I see what a footballer must do. In training, in life and it is every day, every detail. So if things don’t change, I won’t change. »»

Amorim prefers to play at 63 rather than Rashford
Amorim said that the situation would remain the same if Rashford’s attitude did not improve and said he would prefer to have his 63 -year -old goalkeeper coach, Jorge Vital, on the bench rather than the English international.
“This is the same situation for all players,” said Amorim. “If you do the maximum, if you do the right things … we can use each player. We see it today on the bench – we lack a little rhythm to go, to change games, to move certain parts, but I prefer [it] like that.
“I will put vital [on the bench] Before putting a player who does not give the maximum every day so I will not change in there.
The situation shows no sign of resolution, but Meulensteen, who helped Sir Alex Ferguson to win three Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008 when he was coach of the first team in Unité, told BBC Radio 5 Live: “It’s never a good thing”. To highlight personal problems with a player in public.
“It reminds me of the [Erik] Ten witches V [Jadon] Society of Sancho. There are certain things in the world of football that I think you have to keep internally and this is one of these things with Rashford.
“It does not help anyone. Not the players. Neither the manager nor the club.
“The comment will have a lot of weight and could go in the wrong direction.”
Meulensteen recommends to Amorim not to make the headlines
This is not the first time that Amorim’s comments have made the headlines. Last week, after the 3-1 defeat against Brighton, he said that the current team of United “could be the worst in the history of the club” before going back and asserting that he was talking about him .
And Meulensteen thinks he may have to slow down his honesty in the future.
He said: “Overall, Ruben Amorim is a very direct guy, very honest and he says what he thinks.
“I don’t necessarily think he is fully aware of the magnitude of the task awaiting him.”
About Rashford, he added: “If I were Rashford, I would do all the means to see if I could get this transfer, no matter how.
“It would be better for all parties. It would be good for Rashford to rediscover himself in a new league.
