It looks like Rohit Sharma is all set to play his last international cricket in the Champions Trophy. The Indian cricket team is expected to travel to England, after the ICC event, to play five test matches which would mark the start of the new cycle of the World Test Championship. According to reports, “the possibility of Rohit going to England for five Test matches is very less.”
“I’m not going anywhere”
Rohit Sharma had bowed out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series final in Sydney, in which the same Australia finally won the final Test match and claimed the BGT after 10 years. Although in his interview with Star Sports during the match, Rohit said, “I’m not going anywhere”, the result of the series did not change the scenario much. Experts, but also fans, are discouraged, and posts on social networks have proven it. This Rohit’s future in the format has been a topic of discussion ever since.

Rohit’s future in international cricket
A report in today’s Dainik Jagran says the Indian captain is unlikely to feature in international cricket after the upcoming Champions Trophy. The team will travel to England after the Champions Trophy to kick off the new cycle of the World Test Championship with a 5-match Test series. The report mentions that Rohit’s participation in this tour is “very less”.
In fact, former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist talked about it in a podcast some time ago. “I don’t see Rohit going to England. I just felt he was saying he would evaluate it when he got home. I mean, the first thing he’ll encounter when he comes home is a two-month-old baby whose diapers he’ll have to change. This could encourage him to go to England. But I don’t see him continuing,” he said. He added: “I think he’ll probably have a chance at the Champions Trophy, and that could be… that could see him go out.” he added.
