Mandy Moore explained why she shared a GoFundMe campaign to support her brother-in-law’s family following the devastation caused by the wildfires.
“Yesterday, my brother-in-law and my sister-in-law Claw And Kit [Goldsmith] lost their home and everything they owned in the Eaton Fire,” Moore, 40, wrote via Instagram on Thursday January 9. “With their first baby on the way in just a few weeks, they need our support more than ever.
She added: “Please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild. »
Moore, married to Griff’s brother Taylor Goldsmiththen included a link to the fundraising page started by a friend Matthew Koma.
“[For] People wonder if we are helping our own family or if we are awarding an arbitrary amount of money. According to Google, someone is NOT helpful or empathetic,” Moore continued in her social media post. “Of course we are. Our friend Matt started this GoFundMe and I’m sharing it because people have been asking how they can help.
THE It’s us The former student further reminded social media critics that “no one is forcing you to do anything” before issuing another reminder.
“We also lost most of our lives in a fire,” she wrote. “Kindly F OFF.”
Moore and Taylor’s home — where they are raising their three children — was also destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire earlier this week. After touring the remains earlier Thursday, Moore explained in another Instagram post that they learned the “main portion” of the residence was still standing but “not habitable.” Taylor and Griff’s studio, where they record music for their band Dawes, was also destroyed, along with their instruments and equipment.
“Griff is a touring musician and has also lost his entire arsenal of drums/percussion that he uses to make a living,” Moore explained in his upload. “It’s so much.”
Griff and Kit are also expected to welcome their first baby any day now, prompting Winnetka Bowling League leader Koma, 37, to launch the GoFundMe page.
“They are expecting their first child in a few weeks and without a home or basic necessities, the days ahead seem unimaginable,” says Koma, who is married to Hilary Duffwrote via his Instagram. “Griff is one of my best friends in the world and a fellow musician who spent over 20 years as a touring drummer in his band Dawes – all his drums, his studio gear… the stuff he spent all his life collecting for a living were also lost in the fire.
Upon publication, the campaign has already raised over $158,000 from people like Koma, Taylor, Michelle Branch, Zachary Levi and more.
