President Donald Trump said he would impose an additional 10% rate on imports from China and that the samples would have samples from Mexico and Canada from March 4.
“The proposed prices planned to enter into force The fourth March will come into force, as planned,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Thursday.
The president interrupted the prices offered on Mexico and Canada earlier this month, a few hours before starting, giving the two largest trade partners in the United States for a month.
But in his post Thursday, Trump said that “drugs were still pouring into our country in Mexico and Canada at very high and unacceptable levels”.
Washington will also reach China with an additional 10% levy on March 4, he said, adding that his reciprocal pricing plan would take place as planned on April 2.
“China will also be invoiced an additional tariff of 10% on this date. The reciprocal price date of April second will remain in strength and indeed, “wrote Trump.
Trump’s remarks are an apparent reversal of the comments he made on Wednesday when he said that samples in Canada and Mexico would take effect on April 2, suggesting a possible delay.
