A Techie Animesh Chouhan, based in Bengaluru, a graduate of the Kharagpur IIT, has developed Roticacker.ai, an AI tool designed to assess the roundness of Chapatis. The original concept left social media both amused and divided.
It started when a user posted a photo of his perfectly round roti on X, calling it “art”. Chouhan tested the image with his tool, giving him a 91 out of 100. He then challenged users: if his message hit 420 likes, he would make the tool. The target has been reached and “roti manufacturer” searches increased.
Chouhan qualified the fun, joking experience project: “By looking for an investor to get the domain name, offering 10% capital in return. Let’s make it happen! The website can be read as follows: “Paste or death: the Grand Gol Roti challenge. Future.”
Social media reactions were rapid and varied. Some users were entertained, with a joke, “China a Deepseek and we have roticker.ai”, while another joked, “integration with @Shaadidotcom needed”.
Others have questioned the criteria of the tool, wondering: “Is it only a perfect circle or the diameter too?” And emphasizing this: “Who will check the thickness?” It is a greater determinant of taste than in shape. During this time, a user could not help commenting on cultural obsession, saying: “I never understood this obsession mainly from Northern India for rotis being perfect circles.”
However, not everyone was laughing. Some criticized the tool as misogynist, saying that it was targeting women’s cooking skills. Chouhan quickly closed the backlash, sharing messages of men who had used the tool, proving that everything is very fun.
