When season 1 of “Yellowjackets” made its debut in 2021, few predicted what phenomenon the series would become, including the creators of the show, Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. For the uninitiated, “Yellowjackets” follows the characters as soon as possible: the first, in 1996 after the plane of the Wiskayok women’s football team for the Nationals landed in the Canadian desert and pushes them in the Barbarian survival, including cannibalism, and in our current day 25 years later, where the survivors now adults are still in the grip of everything that had happened to them (or what they did) all these years ago.
While the characters have all their own individual intrigues as soon as possible, the show is at its best when it works as an overall casting. Fortunately, after the heartbreaking end of season 2, our daughters look more than ever on each other, but the scars of psychological trauma and the horror of sustainable legitimate survival do not fade as soon as possible. If anything, they reopen these injuries and play in them.
The press and the criticisms only had access to the first four episodes of season 3, which means that there are still many questions asked by the trailer to answer, but the “jaques” also prove to be hypnotic. Dangerously disturbed, disgusting disgusting and deliciously addictive, prepare to spend your spring season again glued to the TV under the spell of the desert, determined to understand what is real, what is a traumatic hallucination and what will happen next.
Juliette Lewis’s void
After the shocking death of the adult Natalie Scatorccio (Juliette Lewis) at the end of season 2, the fans (including me) feared that the spectacle will suffer without one of the most important characters in the series. While the lack of adult Nat gives us more time with an adult van (Lauren Ambrose) and moves the dynamics of friendship to present quite fantastic scenes with the adult Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) and Misty (Christina Ricci) , the blunt and nonsense attitude and the emotional vulnerability of Nat is cruelly missed. Fortunately, unlike “and like that” which chose to ignore mainly the lack of Kim Cattrall / Samantha Jones, the absence of Natalia influences everything in the chronology of adults. There is undoubtedly a void in the shape of Juliette Lewis, but the death of Natalie serves as an earthquake for surviving yellow Jackets, and the replicas do not seem to decrease anytime soon. Shauna does not seem to keep the trouble and her daughter Callie (Sarah Desjardins) was radically affected by what she witnessed season 2, and the adult Lottie (Simone Kessell) certainly has a lot to answer For after what happened his compound. Thus, while the adult Nat can be gone, his time in the desert always hovers above all.
The absence of Lewis also allows Sophie Thatcher to really rely on her role as one of the new horror queens as a Nat adolescent because she no longer has a comparison in the same episode . She had already spoken with Vanity On the pressure she felt to match Lewis’ voice and manners, but now there is a little more flexibility with this expectation because the fans compare it to what we remember From the adult Nat, rather than what we could see a scene later. As heartbreaking as losing Lewis, it will only benefit from Thatcher in the long term. Even in the first episodes, Thatcher really comes to him and deliver what looks like his best performance to date. Will she be the first of adolescents to have an appointment to the Emmy Award? Antler Queen, long that she reigns.
Season 3 of Yellowjackets is responsible for new and old mysteries
While the malicious gods of Paramount + with Showtime gave the criticisms that the first four episodes of “Yellowjackets” season 3, there are still a lot of new and old mysteries that have not yet been resolved. The fact that I have to wait more than a month for the rest of the world to make up for me and helps to speculate is a delicious agony, which does exactly what makes “Yellowjackets” one of the best shows on television. In a landscape where the excessive model constantly threatens to become the norm, the “yellows” are the remedy. It is a show, yes, but it is also an experience – the one that sends the public to the Reddit rabbit holes and the follow -up of each frame episode by image just to see if there is a clue that they have missed in a way.
I have the impression of saying it for years (because I have it), but the world is a terrifying, oppressive and hateful place at the moment, and the fact that a show on cannibal teenagers was fighting for Their survival in the desert that links so deeply that they grow up to help one of their own demeilers and hide the body of his business partner when they wrongly think that he is singing them has become the watch of Constant comfort of millions of people is … really crazy when you say it aloud. But this is precisely what “yellow picking” is – cathartic escape in a world in a way more exasperated than ours, acted by some of the most talented artists in the company and fueled by explosions of rage that we can only fantasize about the fact of power (rightly (rightly so) release in our own lives. Season 3 of “Yellowjackets” is proof that this show still has a lot to say about female rage and The obsessive powers of sorrow and guilt.
/ Film assessment: 7.5 out of 10
