The writer Deniz Camp reinvented the Marvel Comics universe, play by piece, in his series “Ultimate”. The marvelous heroes of the camp reflect today’s problems but remain faithful to their original spirit: a she-hulk created by imprudent atomic tests near the indigenous peoples, a native-American hawkeye fighting against environmental racism, a luke cage which organizes a mass rebellion against mass incarceration, etc.
As a “Ultimate” soldiers, Camp also launches a science fiction comic strip belonging to creators on image: “Assortid Crisis Events”, crayed by Eric Zawadzki, colored by Jordie Bellaire and in letter by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. Even more exciting, it is a series in progress.
In “Assortid Crisis Events”, the world is out of control in a way that it can only be in a comic strip. All of this is due to a favorite traced of Superhero Comics, The Multiverse; Time, the past, the present and each possible future collapse on themselves. Descend in the streets of Manhattan and you can find dinosaurs on a pâté de houses, space invaders on the next, then go face to face with your own ancestors on that after that.
In this comic strip, however, there are no steel or cape crusades who come to save the day. The synopsis of the series can be read as follows:
“Time has a crisis. Minging in the Fires de la Rouge district, you can find real men from the caves, medieval knights and cyborg soldiers on the Second World War leave. And try to avoid post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Camp Compared the comic to “Black Mirror”, the “twilight zone” of the OG and described it as ““Crisis on infinite land” If it happened to normal people. “Comic strip is an anthology, each issue telling a different matching event showing how someone (s) in the world lives through the crisis.
The creative team shared an exclusive overview of “matching crisis events” # 1 with / film. I read this excellent first problem and I can recommend it with heart. If you need to be more convincing, the first 12 pages of the problem are included below. Camp also shared the following quote on his work:
“Assorted crisis events” are the most ambitious book in my career. Everyone in the team works hard to reinvent themselves not only for this series, but with each issue. We hope to use comic strip technology of new ways of telling deep human stories, to build all your favorite science fiction tropes; Daily apocalyps, temporal curls, multifiverse incursions, people of perspective.
