Jordan Pickford says that Jordan Henderson is a “winner and a great chef” and is delighted to see him again in the England team.
Henderson made his debut in three lions in 2010, but has not played for his country since November 2023, shortly after having made a controversial passage from Liverpool to the Saudi team Al-etttifaq.
His passage in the Middle East was short-lived and he joined Ajax in January 2024 and impressed by the Amsterdammers.
It was always a surprise selection when Thomas Tuchel appointed his first team from England last week, but Pickford, who, like Henderson, went through the ranks of Sunderland, thinks that it is a sensible decision.
Henderson Return is great for the team – Pickford
The Everton goalkeeper said: “His desire to want to win and what he won and achieved is motivated by himself.
“He is a winner and a great leader. I think bringing Hendo to be great for the team.
“He was vice-captain for many years. He did not come to the last euros but he was vice-captain in 2018 in Harry [Kane].
“I think someone like Hendo, it’s great.
“I think it’s a big decision for us to have someone like him in the team.

Experience will help England – Pickford
Henderson was joined in the team by the defender of Newcastle Dan Burn and Pickford thinks that having older heads can only benefit the team when they are preparing to open their World Cup qualification campaign with home matches against Albania and Latvia.
“We have been struck by the door for some time now.
“This is this next step now.
“We have Dan Burn’s first call, which is a great success for him.
“To have these leaders around the place, the more leaders you have in the team, I think that the more successful they will be.
“They will conduct training standards, they will conduct standards around the place and make a better camp for everyone.”
