General Motors recalls more than 90,000 vehicles in response to a potential transmission problem that could lead to an increased risk of crash.
The automaker has declared in a recall report subject to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the transmission control valve in Cadillac CT4, 2020-2022 Cadillac CT5, 2019-2020 and 202022 a “momentary” locking of the wheels in “rare cases”.
A brief locking of the wheels while the vehicles recalled are in motion could present an “increased risk of an accident”, according to the NHTSA recall report.

“This recall implies only vehicles equipped with 10 -speed transmission,” said the report about recalled vehicles. “Vehicles equipped with other transmissions are not affected by this recall.”
GM told Fox Business in a press release that “security of our customers is the highest priority for the whole GM team” and that the automaker “worked to remedy this issue thanks to a software update as quickly as possible”.

There was a report of an accident that is presumed potentially linked to the defect of the valve, according to the recall report.

The software update to solve the problem “will detect that excess wear of around 10,000 miles before a condition of locking the wheels could occur” and prevent it from occurring by “placing the fifth speed transmission to the next key cycle”, according to the report.

The dealers will install the monitoring of the transmission control module at no cost for customers.
The owners of vehicles affected by the recall can expect to receive letters by post from April 21, according to the NHTSA report.
