Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price come up against a great unification of the world title on Friday, March 7.
They fight for the Welter weight titles of Jonas and WBC and the WBA championship of Price at the Royal Albert Hall, live Sky Sports.
This entirely British confrontation is a key moment for Jonas and Price in their respective careers.
The victory will also put the unified champion on the course for an undisputed confrontation with the winner of Mikaela Mayer against Sandy Ryan. Mayer puts the world title WBO 147LB online against British Ryan later this month.
“I will hold three titles from the world. I’m going to beat Jonas. Who is the next? Mayer? Sandy? Someone. I beat everyone at 147 lb,” Price said on the new episode of Behind the stringsAvailable now on Sky Sports.
“I can be one of the biggest boxers to get out not only from Great Britain, but in the world.”
Jonas is perhaps 40 years old and has already been a two-weight unified world champion, but she does not intend to let Price end her career on March 7.
“That’s what she says,” said Jonas on Behind the strings. “There is still hunger and a desire and motivation that burns in me.
“You continue to move the target to see if you can always get it. And so far, I have not missed.”
She wants us to remember him as “the girl who has never abandoned. The girl who continued. The girl who came to the end”.
“Unquestionable must be the next one”
The promoter of Boxxer, Ben Shalom, thinks that the winners of Jonas-Price and Mayer-Ryan must fight to become the undisputed world champion of Welters.
“I think it must be,” said Shalom Sky Sports. “There is a belt on the other side. So I think that the winner of Sandy and Mikaela is going to queue and the winner of this will want to clean the whole division.
“In my opinion [it’s] The best division of female boxing at the moment, many fighters in and around weight. There are big fights, there will be large and large defenses for Natasha and Lauren, whoever passes.
“For me, these are the two best in the division, it’s really. I think Natasha has proven that now in the past two years and that Lauren Price is just a phenomenal talent. I am really excited.”
