As someone who has approached adolescence when SpongeBob Squarepants First become popular, my mileage varies each time a new film or a derivative series makes its streaming rounds. One thing I liked in the original series as a child was the raw and 2D animation which was sometimes raised to the status of a nightmare when SpongeBob has fallen Mala Ren and Stimpy. While I was first worried to check Plankton: the filmThe most recent Spin-offbob film in streaming exclusively on Netflix, I liked to discover that not only this last payment honors the heritage of Spongebob, but continues to push the franchise in a new territory while making healthy heads to the original series.
A musical in the world of Bob the sponge

Centered on … you guessed it, Plankton (Mr. Lawrence), Plankton: the film is an 84 -minute musical that explores the education of the titular character, the relationships and the source of his desire to take over the world by stealing the secret formula of Krabby Patty by Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown), a song and a dance at the same time. Until this musical has seen its release, we only obtained a meager aid from CHUM to find out about the inner functioning of plankton machinations over the decades, and now we have a story of complete origin that no one has asked, but that I do not complain either.
My first thought before looking Plankton: the film Was “we don’t need that, but I’m going to bite.” And I am so happy to have done it because it rely on the tradition of Bikini Bottom without feeling like a cheap money. To put it simply, plankton has always been a one -dimensional character, by conception, and developing on his life gives him more depth without removing his evil and short -view charm.
A story of non -insult origin

Plankton: the film Starts with the usual joke between the plankton and his computerized companion, Karen (Jill Taley), while they are fighting over the best way to take control of the world. Karen, who is tired of the countless unsuccessful attempts of his creator to steal Mr. Krab’s secret recipe, decides to orchestrate his own conspiracy of world domination and succeeds, which rubs the plankton in the wrong direction because it does not follow its orders, which it was designed.
After their fall, we learn that Karen is the real evil genius and that plankton holds it in many ways – in particular, he installed an empathy chip in his motherboard during one of her many upgrades, which she now has the means to withdraw. Spongebob (Tom Kenny), who only wants to help, operates as a de facto narrowing for our nugget borgne of evil, and together they unpack his education, his desire for domination of the world and his unilateral relationship with Karen; The companion he created when he was only a child to help fight his solitude, because he was the smartest member of his family with a weak spirit by a longhot.
Meanwhile, while plankton develops on its situation in Spongebob, Karen reaches the point of no return because it becomes more powerful than ever. To make things worse in Plankton: the filmOur hero (or is he still a villain?) Withdraw the old parts of Karen’s body, who turns immediately because Karen merges with them and becomes a supercomputer and a total destruction force by which the community of Bikini has never seen before.
Ambitious animation

While I will be the first to tell you that the CGI returned Plankton: the film is not my favorite form of animation through the SpongeBob Squarepants franchise (don’t launch me Kamp Koral)There are sequences that recall more the original spectacle dotted from the film which thought a lot behind them while the film rotates in psychedelic territory during some of the most exciting sequences. Even better, this radical change in the style of animation never withdraws from the film, but leaves you by begging more, that I hope to see in the future spongebob Squarepants spin-offs.
Based on the tradition of sponge blows without deviating from what makes the franchise so special in the first place thanks to its strong characters and by pushing its visuals to the upper level, Plankton: the film is an addition worthy of the constantly expanding underwater world that has been created by the late Stephen Hillenburg, and that has been fully worth your time if you visit Bikini Bottom since 1999 like most pure and hard fans.
Plankton Streaming: the film on Netflix

And of course, perhaps a secondary quest for plankton is not necessary, and the creator of the program may have been against the idea of having so many spin-off properties which obtain the green light after his death, but to longtime fans, and to their children who are now launching into the Squarepants of the Esponge Plankton: the film Ensures that plankton, lebob, sand, Sandy, Patrick, Squidward and everyone living in the back of the bikini are in good hands while their universe continues to grow in a new and exciting way.
Plankton: the film is an original Netflix, and you can distribute it now with an active subscription.
