A student from the University of Pittsburgh mysteriously disappeared during his spring holidays in the Dominican Republic, and research is currently underway.
Sudiksha Konanki, 20, from northern Virginia, was missing on Thursday in Punta Cana, according to the Sheriff’s office in the county of Loudoun. Punta Cana is located east of the island nation of the Caribbean and is a popular tourist hot spot.
Konanki was last seen around 4:50 am on a beach at the Riu Republica Resort five stars and has not been heard since, according to a leaflet broadcast online. Local reports say it was walking on a beach at the time.

Konanki was part of a group of six students from the University of Pittsburgh going to the region, a spokesman for the Sheriff of Loudoun County. Konanki is a citizen of India and the Sheriff’s office could not say if she is also an American citizen.
It is described as 5 feet, 3 inches high, with black hair and brown eyes, according to the leaflet.
The leaflet says that she was seen for the last time wearing a brown bikini with two pieces, large round earrings, a metal creator ankle on his right leg, yellow bracelets and steel on his right hand and a multicolored pearl bracelet on his left hand.

Defensa Civil Dominicaana, a research and rescue force of the Dominican Republic, said on Saturday that it had carried out a full day research with operations scheduled for Sunday.
“The orange research and rescue unit, as well as other institutions, worked from the early hours of Saturday, trying to find the fate of the young woman, Sudiksha Konanki, without success,” the agency wrote in an article on Instagram.

The India’s Embassy in the Dominican Republic is working with the State Department and the police on the ground, said the spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Bureau of the county of Loudoun.
“The office of our sheriff supports these efforts and continues to investigate locally,” the spokesman for Fox News Digital said.
The last travel opinion of the State Department from June 2024 advises travelers to exercise increased caution in the Dominican Republic due to crime, which gives it a level 2 warning.

“Violent crimes, including armed robbery, homicide and sexual assault, are a concern throughout the Dominican Republic,” said the opinion of the State Department.
He indicates that stations are better politically than urban areas like Santo Domingo.
The University of Pittsburgh said that it was in contact with Konanki’s family as well as the county authorities of Loudoun, Virginia, and have offered their full support to find and bring it safely, the institution told WTAE.
