Real Madrid won a 1-0 victory for relegation against the Alaves on Sunday afternoon despite the dismissal of Kylian Mbappe in the first half.
At the end of what Carlo Ancelotti called a “difficult week”, a defeat of the League against Valence aggravated by a humiliation in the Champions League against Arsenal, the director of Real Madrid called for a performance to cheer up. “I want to see a Madrid capable of recovering our good feelings,” said his Italian players.
Real Madrid emerged with three points from Mendizorroza but not too many “good feelings” after a fractive and fiery meeting.
Eduardo Camavonga broke the dead end with a clear driving on the edge of the box after exchanging passes with Federico Valverde. The French striker was sent against Arsenal, but it was his high compatriot, Mbappe, who received his walking orders on Sunday.
The form n ° 9 of Madrid had been refused a fault and continued angry after the opposition, pushing the underside of his right boot in the tibia of Antonio Blanco in the 38th minute. Even if Mbappe had approached the ball – which he did not do – this violent action would have had a better chance of unraveling the white orb rather than winning possession.
Visitors huddled in combat mode for the second half, yielding the ball and any attack initiative to one side that started the day at a point above the Liga relegation area.
Madrid did not have their first shot from the second half until the Alaves were reduced to ten men themselves. Manuel Sanchez did not apply the same force as Mbappe, but still sank his studs into the veal of Vinicius Junior to win a red card in the 70th minute.
The victory, as rough and uncertain, brought Madrid to four points behind Barcelona at the top of the Liga. The pair clashes in what could prove to be a title decision-maker on the second weekend in May and meet during the Copa del Rey final of this month that Mbappe could miss according to the gravity of its ban.
