Police against terrorism in Great Britain investigates an attack on Saturday which “seriously injured” two women in the English city in the north of Leeds. The police said that they had recovered a crossbow and a gun.
Police arrested a 38-year-old man, who was taken to hospital with what they called “self-inflicted injury”.
They said they were not looking for anyone else as part of the attack, which occurred on Saturday afternoon, and that the reason for violence remained under investigation.
“It is clear that it was a shocking incident,” said Carl Galvin, an assistant police officer of the West Yorkshire police, the strength that led the initial police operation. He thanked the civilians and the emergency stakeholders for helping the victims.
“We would strongly urge people not to speculate online or to share information or images that could affect the active survey,” he added.
The incident comes in the midst of debates on violence and terrorism in Great Britain, which still counts with the murder of three young girls last July in Southport, in northwestern England. Last year, the knife attack sparked riots, which were ignited by disinformation and far -right agitators.
Crime with a knife is more common than crossbow attacks in Great Britain, but the use of the weapon is not unprecedented in the country. Last July, a man with a crossbow killed three women in London – his ex -partner, who had recently ended their relationship, as well as his sister and their mother.
A separate interventional attack, which, according to the police, has led to non -fatal injuries, was reported in London In March of the year.
