Overview of the match for Tottenham against Frankfurt
Tottenham goes to their most pivotal match of the season insofar as they welcome the German side Frankfurt in northern London for the first stage of their quarter -final confrontation in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Angel Postcoglou has recently been examined more and more, with questions about his future, earning even more traction after the recent defeat against Chelsea.
The Spurs ensured a 3-1 victory against Southampton already noted on the weekend, although he did little to repair the rift between the manager and part of the fans base.
However, a convincing performance against Frankfurt could greatly contribute to restoring faith.
It is the first European quarter -final of Spurs since their iconic 2019 race when they eliminated Manchester City on outside goals in a classic of the Champions League.
But historically, Tottenham had a hard time at this stage of European competition, winning only one of their 13 previous finals.
They faced Frankfurt for the last time in the Group phase of the Champions League during the 2022-23 campaign, but the only previous direct elimination meeting occurred during the Cup of the 1981-82 Cup winners, where Tottenham preceded the Germans 3-2 in aggregate.

Frankfurt is not foreigners at this stage of the Europa League. This marks his third appearance in the quarterfinals in six seasons.
Historically, they progressed of this round even without winning the first leg – eliminating Barcelona at the Nou camp in 2022 on the way to lift the trophy.
They were dominant in the round of 16, hammering Ajax 6-1 on the aggregates, although they looked less threatening since Omar Marmoush left for Manchester City in January.
The recent results have been incoherent, with only five victories in their last 13 games, including a 2-0 defeat on weekends against Werder Bremen. However, they stay third in the Bundesliga table and imagine their chances against a poor team of Spurs.
