New York Helicopter Charter, Inc., was based on an emergency prescription from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) after a helicopter operated by the company crashed in the Hudson river last week, killing a family of five and the pilot.
The FAA’s decision comes after the helicopter company dismissed its operations director following its decision to close the flights.
“The FAA takes this measure in part because after the director of operations of the company voluntarily closed theft, it was dismissed,” the FAA said in a statement.

“The examination, known as the certificate assessment program (CHEP), determines whether an operator complies with applicable regulations and effectively manages safety, and identifies the dangers and risks so that the FAA and the operator can mitigate them,” said the agency.
The FAA previously announced that it would continue to support the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigation into the accident, while launching an immediate examination of the license and the tour operator security file
