Occupied week to come for Yamal and Barcelona
They have seven clear points at the top of the Liga, although Real Madrid can reduce the gap to four tonight, while they will face Carlo Ancelotti’s men in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday, four days before meeting Milan during the first leg of their semi-final of the Champions League.
Yamal grew up 30 kilometers north of Barcelona and admits that he finds incredible that children now wear shirts with his name on the back.
He said to ESPN: “When I was a child, I wore Neymar’s shirts, Messi’s jerseys, all these players, so seeing children carry my shirt means that I am their inspiration, at least in football.
“This is something that I would never have thought of happening so quickly: [seeing] These 13 -year -old children in the shirt of a child who are only four years older than them. It’s amazing.
“My mom always tells me to think [the significance]; That it does not happen to just anyone, to go somewhere and to see a child wearing your shirt. This is something that makes me very happy and is one of the things I love most. »»
Yamal’s parents keep him in the ground
Yamal’s profile has skyrocketed in the past two years and he admits to relying on his parents to keep him on the ground despite the obvious temptations.
He added: “My parents were my references in everything. Everyone always tells me that I have a little of my mother and a little of my father. I think that on the ground, I have a lot of my father and off the field, I have a lot of my mother.
“These are two people with whom I grew up and they taught me everything. They fought for me. The affection my father has for me is unimaginable. Thank you to him, I learned the love we have for the family, because it is a person who gives a lot of love to people.
“So I believe that all I have and that I will have is thanks to them. I always say that I can never thank them fully, but I will try. ”
