Newcastle against Brentford Match Overview
Four days after the euphoria of a trophy parade in the city to celebrate their final triumph of the EFL Cup on Liverpool, Newcastle has the prospect of landing to return to the Premier League action against a Brentford team which beat them 4-2 in December.
Newcastle lost its last home game a month ago – a 2-1 defeat nearby against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup – and the manager Eddie Howe recognized that psychology had been a “huge thing” in the preparation for a potentially crucial match in the race to win the qualification in the Champions League.
“I have seen a very good reaction from the players,” said Howe, reflecting on the challenge of ensuring that the form of the league of his team is not affected by the seismic effect of the victory of the first major trophy of the club since 1955.
“I have not seen an excessive reaction – I saw the type of reaction that I am waiting for. It will be a key moment in our season. The question mark against us is whether we can be the team we were against Liverpool. ”

Newcastle could finish fourth with victory, while Brentford has little room for error if they want to maintain their hopes to play in Europe for the first time.
The bees placed in 11th started three points behind Bournemouth last week immediately above them and four timids of Aston Villa and Fulham.
“I hope they had an incredible party because they deserved it,” said Brentford manager Thomas Frank, about Newcastle. “This is their first major cup in almost a life.
“It is an incredible achievement for them and I am really happy on their behalf. I am sure they will fly under the spotlight for a celebration. They will try everything they can to track this place in the Champions League.”

“The initial diagnosis was between six and eight weeks, but I think it has already managed a few,” said Howe. “Were fingers, we will see in May.”
Tino Livramento will continue to deputize for Lewis Hall after the left back was operated on a foot injury, and Captain Jamaal Lascelles may not return this season after a knee operation.
The lateral back Michael Kayode is back in the running for Brentford, but Mathias Jensen remains absent after his return from injury was hampered by the disease and his midfielder Fabio Carvalho is likely to miss the rest of the campaign with a shoulder problem.
The rich files Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey and the striker Gustavo Nunes are about to return but are not against Newcastle. Midfielder Josh Dasilva and striker Igor Thiago progress with longer -term recovery.
