Tiger Woods will conceive a new short course of nine holes near Masters as part of a new partnership with Augusta National Golf Club.
The Architecture Cabinet of Augusta National and Woods TGR Design will create the new course as part of the renovation of the municipal golf course of Augusta, commonly called “Le Patch”, located four miles from the Maison des Masters.
The short course will be adjacent to the 18 -hole municipal golf course, which is currently renovated by Tom Fazio and Beau Welling and which should open its doors next April in April.
Woods was not present at Augusta National for the announcement on Monday, when he continues to recover from surgery after having broken his Achilles tendon last month, but appeared on the video link to think about the exciting partnership.
“The partnership with Augusta National Golf Club to serve its surrounding community is really special,” said Woods. “My passion for education and golf goes back for a long time, as is my relationship with Augusta National and the city of Augusta.
“This is a transformational opportunity to empower the next generation and offer significant educational programming and access to fun and affordable golf. I am delighted to work alongside Augusta National and to see the two projects become a reality.”
In addition, Woods’ TGR Foundation, build a TGR learning laboratory in Augusta, Georgia, which will give access to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) and opportunities for young people.
Fred Ridley, president of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters tournament, said that the partnership with former world n ° 1 would help enrich access to high -quality educational programs and affordable golf course in Augusta.
“Today’s announcements mark an important step for Augusta and deepen the connection that our community has with one of our greatest masters of masters, Tiger Woods,” said Ridley.
“” We are grateful to associate ourselves with the TGR Foundation and to invest jointly in the Augusta community. This partnership, in TGR Learning Lab, reflects our common interest in increasing access to high -quality programs and an impact on the next generation in a tangible way.
“At the heart of our patch efforts is a commitment to create an affordable and welcoming golf experience. An equal importance will be given to the creation of possibilities of learning and falling in love with the game as well as developing a pipeline for employment in the golf industry.”
