The manager of Bayer Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso, has chosen to bypass speculations concerning a potential passage to Real Madrid, insisting that the accent must remain on the last section of the season.
The 43 -year -old Spaniard is one of the names that would have been considered a replacement if Carlo Ancelotti left the Bernabeu this summer.
Alonso’s impressive mandate in Leverkusen – which includes guiding them to an unbeaten Bundesliga title and a German Cup victory in his first full season – made him a hot managerial perspective across Europe.
Despite rumors of assembly, Alonso remained tight when he was asked about his future during his last press conference.
“It’s not the right time to discuss the future. We are at a very important time of the season.
“I don’t want to talk about speculation and rumors. [I understand] This happens, but what is more important for me is what is happening right now. »»

The CEO of the club, Fernando Carro, has also weighed on rumors on a Madrid movement, adding that Alonon feels “at ease” at the club and is already involved in next season planning.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp – Another manager linked to Real Madrid – seems to be back on the sidelines soon. His agent, Marc Kosicke, told Sky German on Friday: “Jurgen is very satisfied with his new role as head of world football in Red Bull.”
As for Alonso, this is not the first time that he has been connected with the best clubs. Last year, it was linked to vacant management positions in Real Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
A full -fledged player, Alonso appreciated a six -year stellar round with Real Madrid between 2009 and 2014, winning both the Liga and the Champions League.
He finished his playing days in Bayern Munich in 2017 before going to training.
