Manny Pacquiao will release night balls to challenge the Welter WBC weight champion, Mario Barrios, on July 19 in Las Vegas. The former world champion of eight 46-year-old divisions, Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KB) has been happy to have been for the first time in four years in 2021, seeking his first victory in six years since 2019. Although Pacquiao has not been classified in the Top 15, WBC rules allow former champions to challenge their global titles out of retirement.
Debate of meritocracy
Boxing fans on social networks are divided on their reflections on the fact that Pacquiao is awarded a title without winning it. People who are fans of Pacquiao love the idea and cannot see it again, fighting the weakest link among belt holders at 147. On the other hand, criticisms believe that it is a bad decision for the Sport Meritocracy. The fighters are supposed to gain shots on the title, are not given to them according to what they did ten years ago.
“Breaking: the Manny Pacquiao boxing superstar will end her retirement almost four years to face Mario Barrios for the Welter WBC weight championship on July 19 in Las Vegas, sources confirmed to Andreas Hale on Thursday,” reports X.
There is no guarantee that Pacquiao will succeed against the 29-year-old barrios (29-2-1, 18 KB). While Manny definitively chooses the weakest champions at 147, he is not young enough and active to have a good chance of winning. Pacquiao looked seriously washed during his last fight in 2021, losing against Yordenis Ugas by a 12 -round decision.
He blamed his defense on the cramps in his calves to run too much in the training camp. He looked too old and cheesy two years off the ring. The UGA dominated Pacquiao in this fight.
There is the potential that Pacquiao is injured by the barrios. Hopefully the referee quickly intervenes if Manny seems to take a hit. Leaving the 46 -year -old to soak up punishment would not be a good idea.
The reason
We do not know what is the goal for the return of Pacquiao. Some fans on social networks think that Pacquiao has passed the fortune he has obtained from the Mayweather fight for his political career and is now forced to return to the ring.
If Pacquiao has exploded all his money on his becoming senator, it’s disappointing. He made a fortune from his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2015. The fight was not at all entertaining, the two fighters looking bad above the hill, and Mayweather making the minimum minimum to win.
