You could say that if someone had to make a rushmore mountain of beloved science fiction films, the classic hit of director James Cameron in 1984 “Terminator” should be there. Heck, there are a lot of people who would say that “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” should also be there. The films have helped to define the career of Arnold Schwarzenegger, cementing it as a great star of the action of all time. It is a franchise that includes some of the greatest works of cinematographic science fiction never produced, but it also includes not so large entrances. But which one is the least Schwarzenegger?
On a recent episode of “Look at what’s going on live” With the host Andy Cohen, a member of the public asked Schwarzenegger when the “Terminator” films that he thought was the worst. The former governor of California did not sit on the fence or pretended as if he appreciated them all. He clearly indicated, although, in a good humor way, that the 2009 “Terminator Salvation” was the least favorite of the group. Here is what he had to say about this:
“I would say that the worst was probably No. 4, because it was done during the time I was governor [of California] And I was not in it … How to make a Terminator film without my being in the film Terminator? It makes no sense. “”
“I called immediately,” joked Schwarzenegger when he was asked if he had called for production. “I said: ‘I will adopt a law prohibiting [filmmakers] To make films that suck! “”
For what it is worth, Schwarzenegger previously said that the “Salvation of the terminator” was zero in 2015. He is certainly not alone in thought. Everyone has strong opinions on this series, but it would be difficult to find a fan who would put a huge fight with the man who gave life to the T-800. In terms as well as possible, it is not a famous film.
Terminator Salvation was a turning point for the franchise
Directed by MCG and with Christian Bale, who was freshly out of the star in the hit of $ 1 billion “The Dark Knight”, Paramount Pictures had reasons to be optimistic about “salvation”, which takes place entirely in the future, rather than returning to the past like most “Terminator” films. Unfortunately, this did not leave a good impression on criticisms or audiences at the time, and it is better recalled for the infamous Bale on the tirade of Bale than for the film itself.
“Salvation” collapsed at the box office, drawing $ 371 million worldwide against a budget of $ 200 million. He did much less from the 2003 “Rise of the Machines” ($ 433 million), and the series would reset again in 2015 with “Terminator Genisys”, which was not gathered with nice opinions either but was much better commercially thanks to a little return to the return of Schwarzenegger.
This film did not receive direct actions. Instead, the director of “Deadpool”, Tim Miller, again retiden the continuity of the series with “Terminator: Dark Fate”. Although “Dark Fate” of 2019 has won the best reviews for the series since “T2”, she failed to arouse a lot of love at the box office. Instead, the franchise moved to television with the famous “Terminator Zero” animates by presenting on Netflix in 2024.
“It is a big thorn by my side, because I would have liked that we could invigorate this, and unfortunately during the production, you could say that it did not happen,” said Bale in 2018 concerning the “Salvation du Terminator” and his regret to choose to make the film. “It’s a great shame.” The actor also revealed at the time that he had refused the film several times before being finally convinced to connect.
You can recover the “Terminator” collection at 6 films on Blu-ray or Amazon DVD.
