Joseph Czuba risks life for life for the murder of Wadee Alfayoumi, 6 days, the days after the start of the War of Israel in Gaza.
A jury in the American state of Illinois condemned a man of murder and crime of hatred for the death of a six -year -old Palestinian boy.
Friday, Joseph Czuba, 73, who was found guilty, risks life for life when he was sentenced in May for a murder which, according to prosecutors, was caused by an anti-Muslim hatred and also left the mother of the seriously injured boy, as indicated in the judicial archives.
The boy’s murder, Wadee Alfayoumi, and the attack on his mother, Hanan Shaheen, were one of the first and the worst hate crime incidents in the United States since the Israel War against Gaza.
The Czuba, who was the owner of Shaheen and his son, stabbed the boy 26 times using a military -style knife with a 7 -inch serrated blade (18 cm), the authorities said. Shaheen has undergone several stabs in the attack that occurred in the canton of Plainfield, about 40 miles (64 km) southwest of Chicago.
During the trial this week, Shaheen testified that the Czuba had said to him: “You, as a Muslim, had to die.”
Michael Fitzgerald, prosecutor at the office of the prosecutor of Will County State, presented a recording of the 911 call in the trial.
“The owner kills me and my baby,” said Shaheen on the audio.
The Czuba had previously pleaded not guilty and had not testified during the trial which started on Tuesday.
“ All our children were targeted ”
The case has generated headlines in the world and deeply struck the great Palestinian community in the Chicago region.
“We all who are parents, Arabs or Palestinians … Who are Muslims, we have all seen our children die in Wadee Alfayoumi, because that could have been one of our boys, said Ahmed Rehab de Council on American -Islamic Relations (CAIR) – Chicago, said Ahmed Rehab, according to the associated press agency.
“It turns out that it was Wadee Alfayoumi. When it was targeted, all of our children were targeted. Each Muslim was targeted when he [Czuba] cried: “All Muslims must die.” »»
Abed Ayoub, Executive Director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), said the verdict issues a justice measure for Wadee’s family and “sends a clear message that inequilibuted violence has no place”.
“We will never accept or forget that a six-year-old child has lost their lives because of the dangerous anti-Palestinian rhetoric,” he said, the AFP news agency said.
Other American incidents stimulate anti-arab prejudices include the attempt to drown a three-year-old Palestinian girl in Texas, the beads of an American Palestinian man in Texas, the beat of a Muslim man in New York, a violent crowd attack against pro-Palestinian demonstrators in California and a flame in Florida of two Israeli visitors the suspicious task.
