Technological trends…
The big one Consumer Electronics Show In Las Vegas started today. As always, it has a ton of amazing products and some very WEIRD those.
Here are the weirdest gadgets revealed so far.
1. A robot vacuum cleaner that picks up dirty socks. It’s like a Roombabut with one arm on top that picks up things you throw on the floor.
A company called Roborock I succeeded. It’s just a prototype, so no word on pricing, but probably north of $1,000. It can pick up small objects weighing less than 11 ounces. Here is a video. I’ll be honest, it’s not great in this area.
2. Electric rollerblades. You wear the battery around your waist like a belt and control the speed with a remote control. The maximum speed is 18 miles per hour. For $800you can relive the 90s and break a hip without breaking a sweat.
3. An electric salt spoon. It has been in the works for some time and went on sale in Japan last year. A weak electric current hits your tongue and makes food taste saltier than it really is. They are $125 in Japan. You can’t get them in the US yet. Here is a video. I think the way you’re holding it looks like a design flaw.
4. A table with functional legs. We call it the Mi-Moand he walks around. The prototype looks like a small side table with a Pixar lamp at the top. The idea is that it’s an AI robot that you can talk to, but it also looks like a piece of furniture.
5. A guitar without strings. It’s like an adult version of those push button guitars for small children. For $500you can feel like you’re playing guitar, without actually playing guitar. Here is a video.
6. A little robot that blows on your drink to cool it. We call it the FuFu. It looks like a cat and hangs on the side of your coffee mug. This also works on soup. They will go on sale in Japan later this year for around $25.
